Despite all the difficulties of modern realities and the martial law in our country, introduced in connection with the Russian aggression against Ukraine, the public organization "National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine" (hereinafter - the Academy) continues to function actively. International activity is one of its priority areas. Thus, enrichment of educational and scientific potential through exchange and use of world experience, in order to improve professional skills, personal development of domestic scientists, modernize the training of future generations, establish and optimize international cooperation with foreign educational institutions, foreign governmental and non-governmental organizations. States to participate in congresses, congresses, symposiums, scientific and practical conferences with international participation, round tables, trainings, seminars, etc., the preparation of joint scientific publications are currently extremely important steps to overcome the situation in Ukrainian science and education.

It should be noted that the Academy includes both outstanding Ukrainian scientists and more than 40 recognized scientists from other countries. It is a pleasure to inform you that on February 22, 2022, at the online meeting of the Presidium of the Academy (Minutes 1), the Vice President of the Hunan University of Humanities, Science and Technology, Professor ZHIGUO CHEN, was elected a foreign academician of the National Academy of Higher Education of Ukraine. He is a Doctor of Philosophy in Materials Science and Engineering, Central Southern University (Part of his research was conducted at the Australian Key Center for Microscopy and Microanalysis at the University of Sydney (Australia) under the direction of Dr. Simon P. Ringer, Professor and Director of the Australian Key Center for Microscopy and Microanalysis). 

Professor Zhiguo Chen gives the following lecture courses:

- science and engineering of materials;

- metal materials and heat treatment;

- physical metallurgy;

- technology of analysis of microstructure of material, etc.

Professor Zhiguo Chen received 18 national patents for inventions; published more than 190 peer-reviewed scientific papers.

We are convinced that his scientific achievements and professional experience will certainly serve as a reliable basis for the further development of international scientific partnerships for the benefit of China and Ukraine. Therefore, we gladly congratulate Mr. Zhiguo Chen on his election as a foreign academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in the general technical department, we wish him fruitful cooperation, interesting scientific projects and new professional achievements.
